Perfume market becoming more masculine
According to data from MEMRB Market Research, the perfume market produced growth of 9 per cent in terms of value in the September 2006 – August 2007 period. Seven out of ten products sold were bought by women. However, expansion in the male segment is faster, at 12,5 per cent in terms of value. Drugstores increased their market share in the retail market by 10 per cent. The Christmas season is extremely important, as it accounts for 37 per cent of total sales in the female and 41 per cent of sales in the male segment. Many fragrances are available in pump spray versions, which are becoming increasingly popular as a result of their lower price.
