Winter and summer sun protection
Consumers still think about sunscreens as something that they use in the summer, when having fun on the beach. Few people are aware that sun protection is also necessary when one is hiking or cycling. What is more, sun cream should also be applied when we are skiing in the mountains!
Melinda Jáger, marketing manager of Beiersdorf Kft. informed us that most people still don’t know what Sun Protection Factor (SPF) really means: they think the higher this value, the better the product. She revealed that one should choose a suntan lotion based on their skin type, deciding on the product with the ideal SPF. Another problem is that in most cases shoppers don’t differentiate between products for adults and children, in spite of the fact that babies and children need stronger sun protection. NIVEA SUN products have been developed especially for children.
HighCosm Bt. is the manufacturer of Dr.Kelen products. Sales and marketing manager Réka Horváth-Kelen told our magazine that they make SunSave sunscreens ranging from SPF 6 to 50+, in spray, oil, cream and lotion formats. She added that drugstores are strengthening their position in sales and at the same time grocery stores are losing ground, with the exception of hypermarkets. In the suntan lotion category shoppers are loyal to the brands that have already proved their worth. For children more and more parents are buying SPF 50 sun creams instead of the formerly favoured SPF 30. Consumers are increasingly health-conscious, they appreciate it if a product is free from preservatives and contains natural UV ray blockers. For these shoppers SunSave body lotions are the perfect choice.
In 2019 Sarantis Hungary Kft. will launch the Astrid brand. Marketing manager Károly Deli told: the product range includes an SPF 50 Baby sunscreen too. We can also find moisturising body lotions in the Astrid portfolio – these are to be used after sunbathing. Astrid sun creams are available not only in the traditional formats, but also in spray and pump versions.
NIVEA is preparing for the summer with new innovations: NIVEA SUN Sensitive Immediate Protect Soothing Sun Spray FF50+ debuts in 2019. This product contains aloe vera and panthenol. Roll-on children’s product NIVEA SUN Kids Sensitive Roll-on FF50+ was introduced in 2018. This was so successful that two more roll-on follows this year: NIVEA SUN Kids Color Roll-on FF50+ in pink and green versions. Another two very practical products will appear on store shelves, NIVEA SUN Protect & Moisture Pump Sunscreen FF50+ and NIVEA SUN Kids Moisturising Children’s Pump Sunscreen FF50+. These are also special because of their large, 300ml family size. //
