Sustainability forum and prize distribution at METRO
The METRO Sustainable Gastronomy Award 2023, launched last year, was won by independent food policy analyst Réka Szöllősi in the individual category, vegan canteen “The Planteen” in the restaurant category, and Dabas Institutional Maintenance Center in the organization category. The award honoring the work of those who are at the forefront of sustainable gastronomy was presented by METRO Nagykereskelim on June 8 in the framework of a professional forum on current sustainability topics.
The promotion and practice of sustainable gastronomy is one of the guiding threads of METRO’s social responsibility activities. For the first time in 2021, a sustainable gastronomy workshop was organized with a waste-free cooking demonstration in honor of Sustainable Gastronomy Day. The wholesale trade launched the METRO Sustainable Gastronomy Award in 2022, which is awarded every year in three categories to the person, restaurant and organization at the forefront of sustainable gastronomy.
As a continuation of the tradition-creating initiative, on June 8, 2023, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the Sustainable Gastronomy Forum and award ceremony took place, which was also organized this time at the METRO Gastronomy Academy in Budaörs.
