Sustainability and nature conservation in a major investment
Opening this spring, Le Primore Hotel & Spa aims to be not only a new symbol of premium tourism in Hévíz, but also a model of commitment to nature conservation and sustainability. During the construction of the hotel, special attention was paid to cleaning up the area that served as the basis for the construction site, which suffered severe environmental damage, and to preserving the natural habitats that could still be saved, in close cooperation with the Zala County Government Office, the Balaton Uplands National Park and local authorities.
The area that serves as the basis for the hotel has been an illegal construction waste dump since the 1960s, which was documented in aerial photographs taken in the 1980s. The construction debris and other waste that has accumulated over the past decades has damaged this part of the protected peat bog of Hévíz to such an extent that it has lost its nature conservation significance.
The reclamation works began in 2020, during which 45,000 cubic meters of construction waste were removed from the area. These works were carried out under the supervision of the Zala County Government Office and were officially completed in 2021. The investors placed great emphasis on cleaning the entire area, thus eliminating decades of illegal dumping and protecting the ecosystem of the still living areas.
