Within the framework of the call for proposals RRF-4.2.1-23 – “Building a mindset for sustainable agricultural water use” related to the Attitude Reform of the Water Management Component D of the Hungarian Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Ministry of Agriculture implemented its project with more than 31.87 million forints of EU non-refundable support. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable agricultural water use and to present practical solutions that promote the application of water-saving methods, water retention and the benefits of community cooperation. The project supports farmers and sustainable water management communities at the national level in adapting to the challenges caused by climate change. The project produced professional publications, a national media campaign, a short film presenting good practices, and conferences and online training helped to transfer knowledge. A total of more than 800 people participated in the trainings, and the awareness-raising activities are directly related to the tasks of the Ministry of Agriculture related to agricultural water management. As a result of the project, the awareness of sustainable water use solutions has increased nationwide, and according to surveys, they are being applied on more than 67 thousand hectares. The project ended on January 31, 2026. The project does not create new jobs, but it contributes to maintaining the long-term competitiveness of agriculture and preserving water resources.
