Sustainable festival philosophy at the Paloznak Jazz Picnic
There is a small Hild prize-winning settlement in the Balaton highlands: Paloznak. This fairytale place becomes the capital of jazz for three days in the summer, and thousands of people visit the hillside to take part in the Paloznak Jazz Picnic, which is being held for the 12th time this year.
Jazzpiknik is the greenest domestic festival, where sustainability, reduction of the ecological footprint and selective waste management are as important as the selection of world stars in the lineup. Jazzpiknik is here again on Thursday, a liveable festival with good music, good people, in a good environment – which they take great care of. In the festival philosophy of Jazzpiknik, greening, eco-awareness and education are given a prominent place – both in environmental and musical education. The Piknik organizers made it a banner that the fairy-tale villager from Balaton can show himself to the audience in the same way as he did before the festival.
In recent years, the Picnickers have taken part in attitude formation: They celebrate with Repohars – the redemption rate of Repohár is uniquely over 70% -, glass cups with a deposit fee, soda bottles, selective bins, and public transport, which makes them feel even better. As part of quality recreation, they pay attention to their surroundings and protect the village that welcomes them. Part of the cyclical philosophy is that after the Picnic, there will be another year when the organizers recharge the environment, plant trees, take care of the area, and introduce green developments, so that the spirit of the place can be felt again next year.
