A replenished Agricultural Damage Mitigation Fund helps producers affected by the damage
The reassuring information for the farmers who suffered damage this year is that about HUF 25 billion is available in the 2024 damage mitigation fund from the payments of the producers and the state, as well as the funds that were not used last year, which will be supplemented by EU funds of HUF 10 billion per year from this year. In the previous year as well, the fund fully compensated the producers for the reported damages without redistribution.
The Ministry of Agriculture has taken a number of measures in the past year in order to strengthen the Agricultural Damage Mitigation Fund. From 2024, in addition to producer and state funds, EU funds worth HUF 10 billion per year will also supplement domestic funds, in order to mitigate damage to the greatest extent possible for member farmers who have suffered damage and are self-supporting.
During the first weekend of June, several parts of the country experienced intense thunderstorm activity accompanied by falling ice
The Agriculture Ministry calls on those producers who are members of the agricultural damage mitigation system who have suffered plant damage to report the damage on the Hungarian Treasury’s electronic damage reporting interface within 15 days from the occurrence of the damage event. Pursuant to FM Decree 27/2014 (XI.25) on certain issues related to the payment of the damage mitigation contribution and the use of the damage mitigation benefit, in the case of hail, torrential and storm damage, the date of occurrence of the damage shall be considered to be the time when the agricultural damage occurred in the area affected by the damage occurs.
