Tesco takes action against food waste
One of Tesco’s most important efforts is to reduce food waste – accordint to the company’s press release.
A daily food rescue program is already operating in 173 out of the 204 Tesco stores in Hungary. As part of this initiative, around 500 employees of the supermarket chain sort out vegetables, fruits and bakery products that cannot be sold, but are still suitable for human consumption each day, and then hand them over to the members of the Hungarian Food Bank Association and its partner organizations.
