The growth of retail turnover accelerated in the Czech Republic
In March, the growth rate of the retail concept accelerated to 6.1 percent in the Czech Republic from 2.5 percent in February, the Czech Statistical Office reported on Thursday in Prague. Compared to the previous month, the turnover of stores increased by 1.3 percent.
In March, the turnover of manufactured goods increased by 7.7 percent, that of foodstuffs by 4 percent, and that of fuels by 6.7 percent.
“Revenues increased in all important groups, this also applies to manufactured goods and food”
Jana Gotvaldová, director of the statistical office, told journalists.
The turnover of drugstores was 27.4 percent higher than a year ago, while that of pharmacies and shops selling medical aids increased by 6.3 percent. The turnover of clothing and footwear increased by 5.2 percent, and that of household appliances by 3.1 percent. Czechs spent 2.7 percent more on culture and leisure in March this year than a year ago.
