Data loss causes unfathomable damage to companies – four-fifths of cases are caused by human factors
Last year alone, companies lost $4.35 million due to data breaches, and aside from the hefty loss, the fact is that 43 percent of companies never recover from such a security incident.
More and more analyzes draw attention to the fact that even though companies do their best to build comprehensive cyber protection systems, the weak link in many cases is unprepared – or even intentionally negligent – employees. In addition, the spread of remote work and business applications related to artificial intelligence means an even greater attack surface, and companies watch the destruction almost helplessly. According to digital strategist Ágoston Hortobágyi, conscious training of colleagues in this field is essential, the only question is: how can employees be interested in acquiring related technological knowledge?
Digitization and automation are seeping into more and more areas of business functions, and the enormous amount of data accumulated by companies is a real treasure in everyday operations, but also in achieving longer-term strategic goals. However, while many new processes are integrated into the company’s business, the designers and operators of IT systems have to deal with challenges related to telecommuting, dwindling resources and new technologies, among other things. All the more so because the increasingly frequent data losses cause unfathomable damage to companies worldwide, as 70 percent of smaller companies do not survive 2 years after such an incident.
