The security segment may blacken on restart
Twenty-five to thirty thousand security guards have lost their jobs since the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, which is 30-40 percent of the active stock. Experts now warn that the mass resumption of the hotel and catering industry and events could put the security profession back on the path to undeclared work, which poses a threat not only to the economy as a whole but also to the principals themselves.
Based on the data received, the Professional Chamber of Personal, Property Protection and Private Investigators (SZVMSZK) estimates that roughly one third of the approximately 80,000 active security guards, 25-30 thousand, became unemployed in the last month. The vice-president of the organization, Német Ferenc, adds that, according to their estimates, there may be another 15-20 thousand of the newly dismissed people who have a guardian qualification, but have recently worked in other fields, such as hospitality.
