Retail sales in the Czech Republic also decreased in February
On an annual basis, retail turnover in the Czech Republic also decreased in February, the rate of decrease was 6.4 percent, lower than January’s revised 6.8 percent. In a monthly comparison, the retail turnover in February was 0.4 percent lower than in January, the Czech Statistical Office announced on Thursday.
The turnover of the Czech retail trade has decreased for the tenth month in a row – said Jana Gotvaldová, director of the statistical office, at a press conference in Prague. “However, the rate of decrease in traffic has been decreasing continuously since October last year,” added the technical director. In October last year, the decline was 10.7 percent year-on-year.
Jana Gotvaldová noted that the retail turnover of food and manufactured goods also decreased again. The decrease was 7.6 percent for foodstuffs and 7.1 percent for manufactured goods.
