Cigarette prices will increase in both February and July
Cigarettes will be burdened by11,500 HUF per thousand and 30 percent excise duty per of the retail sales price from February 1, from and another increase occurs in July. This time the xcise tax on cigarettes will increase to 11,900 HUF and to 31 percent of the retail price.
According to the calculations of the Hungarian Association Tobacco Industrial Investors; the industry’s 500 billion HUF turnover of 2011 may decrease. The association estimates that due to the tax increases that the excise tax increase Hungarian smokers can expect a 20 percent price increase this year. (MTI)
