Fazekas Sándor: the government aims to increase the proportion of food distributed by the producers
The government in its National Rural Strategy points out that they are willing to increase the proportion of food sold directly by producers from 7 percent to 20 percent until 2020 – said Fazekas Sándor, Rural Development Minister on Saturday in Kiskőrös.
What they locally produce will be sold locally, and in this case, the income does not flow out of the settlement, so their living will be assured – said Fazekas Sándor, at the opening ceremony of the third edition of the Danube-Tisza Agricultural Expo.
The Minister stressed that the largest commercial chains are always competing with the local farmers market. In Western Europe, the local farmers can maintain control over 15 to 20 percent of the food market through direct sales. (MTI)
