FAO: food prices are on 10-year peak in October
Partly due to supply shortages and a significant rise in the price of vegetable oils and grains, food prices in the world rose in October for the third consecutive month compared to the previous month.
According to data released by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on Thursday, the October price index – the highest since July 2011 – was 133.2 points, 3 percent (3.9 points) higher than in September and 31.3 percent (31.8 points) higher than a year before. (MTI)
