Experts: medium or poor apple crop is expected
After last year's 520 thousand tons of apple crop- mainly due to frost damages – medium or poor apple crop is expected – according to the survey of the North-East Hungarian Apple and Other Fruit Interprofessional Organization and Marketing Board (ÉKASZ).
According to the forecast, prepared by Apáti Ferenc Associate Professor, Takács Ferenc, President of ÉKASZ and Fülep Imre, Managing Director of the Almatop Kft., due to frost damages in April, and the hail damages in June and July, the quantity of industrial apples will be higher than average and it is expected that there will be a major shortage of first-class eating apples.
