Frozen vegetables still „mono”
Though sales of frozen vegetables expanded in terms of value last year, as a result of higher prices, sales in terms of quantity dropped somewhat. Sales of both mono and mixed products were down last year. Mono products still dominate the market of frozen vegetables, with peas, beans and maize being the most popular. Sales of private labels increased in hyper markets. Frozen spices are the most expensive segment, with value added products in second place. Per capita consumption of vegetables in Hungary is still only one third of that in Western Europe. As a result of the increasing popularity of instant dishes, Bonduelle also offers a range of instant solutions. The „value added” segment is still small in Hungary. Last year, we introduced a more economic, 1 kilo size for three of our products.
