These are what the children would put in the basket if they went shopping alone
The GYERE® – Children’s Health Program of the National Association of Hungarian Dietitians (MDOSZ) becomes national. The digital version of the one-and-a-half-year program teaching the principles of good nutrition and lifestyle was launched in elementary schools in 24 Hungarian settlements, thanks to a 205,000-euro grant from the Auchan Foundation.
The project, which brought measurable success in Dunaharaszti, Szerencs and Diósgyőr, is now being significantly expanded, with more than 5,000 primary school students participating in it in different parts of the country. The domestic program developed by the National Association of Hungarian Dietitians is based on the international EPODE model, which aims to reduce childhood obesity, which causes serious problems worldwide, through the cooperation of local communities. The specialists mainly help children and, through them, families to develop and learn everyday norms and rules related to healthy eating, exercise, and the enjoyment of active play and recreation. The first and most important intention of the GYERE® Program is therefore to promote the development of an active and healthy lifestyle in smaller communities and its long-term maintenance.
