Annual sales of 300,000 hamburgers ensure the survival of 700 gray cattle

The population of Hungarian gray cattle has increased significantly in recent decades, after being almost on the verge of extinction in the middle of the 20th century. Since the 70s, its stock has been growing continuously. In addition to the iconic Hortobágy gulya, which is also responsible for preserving the gene pool, more and more private farmers are also taking on the responsibility of keeping gray cattle, which require strictly regulated housing conditions.
