On an annual basis, food prices slowed in January, but shopping did not become cheaper
Food inflation in Hungary decreased from 44.8 percent in December to 44 percent in January in an annual comparison. The slowdown is primarily the result of base effects – pointed out the analysts of MKB Bank and Takarékbank’s Agricultural and Food Business Branch in response to the inflation data published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Friday, adding that shop prices measured in the first month of 2023 show the beginning of the normal year , but a significantly smaller repricing than a year ago.
