SPAR: nearly 60 tonnes less plastic film used per year
SPAR will save minimum 59 tonnes of plastic film every year, by covering some of the goods they deliver to stores with multiuse roll tarp. At the end of December 2022, SPAR started using 35,000 roll tarps instead of the former plastic film. Head of communications Márk Maczelka told: the recycling rate used to be 46% for secondary raw material generated by stores (paper, plastic), but this ratio is now more than 70% in SPAR stores; but the best packaging waste is the one that isn’t generated at all – and this is exactly what the roll tarp can do.
