9 litres of mineral water consumed by households
According to data from the ConsumerScan of GfK Hungária, the quantity of mineral water consumed by households was up by 15 per cent in 2007, compared to 2006. Sales grew by 20 per cent in terms of value. The proportion of households which purchase mineral water keeps increasing year by year. In 2007, this percentage was 86, while the average quantity purchased also increased to 9 litres per year. Carbonated mineral water accounts for 69 per cent of the market in terms of quantity, but demand for carbon-free mineral water is growing. The probability of buying mineral water increases with the age of housewives. Flavoured mineral water is most popular among younger households (5 per cent), while only 3 per cent of older households buy such products.
