Delhaize Group reports 15.8% sales increase
The retail group has more than 2600 stores in the world, the sales of the company reached EUR5.4 billion in Q4 2008, compared to EUR4.6 billion for the same period last year.
Sales in Belgium (738 stores) came in
at EUR1.2 billion (USD1.75 billion), up 1.7% on EUR1.14billion a year
earlier. The company is also interested in Greece (187 units), in
Romania (37 units) and in Indonesia (56 units).
Operating Food Lion, Hannaford and
Sweet Bay chains in the US the total sales in all 1570 stores was
EUR3.8 billion compared with 3.16 billion a year earlier.
Comparable store sales rose 2.9%.
