At the end of year 15 million bottles of champagne consumed
In Hungary, around 30 million bottles of champagne is sold annually, roughly half of this consumed by the end of the year, during the Christmas and New Year shopping period.
Champagne is considered to be a seasonal products. The population purchases it mainly before the holidays and year-end. Half of the annual production is consumed in the last month of the year. The annual turnover of Hungarian champagne is about 12-15 billion HUF. About 30-35 million bottles of cahmapagne is produced in Hungary per year, approximately 240 thousand hectoliters. About 40 thousand hectoliters are exported abroad, mainly to the Nordic countries and the Baltic states – reports MTI Eco.
