European Trade Day – for the fifth time in Hungary
The European Trade Day was organised for the fifth time by the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) together with a number of national advocacy organizations on 3rd of November.
This year the event was built around the role of employment in the sector. Trade employs more than half a million employees, and gives livelihood opportunities for more than one million people. The recession takes away at least 250-300 billion HUF turnover from the sector, but according to other estimations it can be about 500 billion HUF.
Hungary was not able to take advantage of food production capacity, it has not succeeded to create a production base which can supply the domestic markets, behind the international food chains – said Demján Sándor. The Executive Chairman of the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) spoke on the fifth edition of the European Day of Commerce. According to him, trade is not for Hungarian goods to market if they are not competitive. He added that Hungary can not expect any good if it can not increase its production.
