The purpose of the regulation is to strengthen the functioning of the internal market by improving the application of the principle of mutual recognition and removing unjustified barriers to trade. The legislation also provides for the establishment and maintenance of Product Contact Points and for cooperation and exchange of information between Member States, bearing in mind the principle of mutual recognition. The regulation applies to all types of goods, including agricultural products. (MTI)
