The larger half of Europe spends more on Christmas gifts than Hungarians
While in Hungary three-quarters of the population spends up to 100 euros (about 28 000 HUF) on gifts in the Christmas season, in the majority of the European countries a higher amount is reported – states the representative survey of GfK Group and the Wall Street Journal Europe.
In September 2010, the GFK Group, and the Wall Street Journal Europe conducted a survey in 16 countries – including Hungary – over the planned public spendings for Christmas, what kind of gifts the people will buy and where they will obtain these gifts.
In the majority of the European countries, people will spend more on gifts: 47 percent of them less than 100 euros, a quarter of them, an amount between 100 and 250 euros, 28 percent is planning to spend more than 250 euros.
The countries participated in the survey are: Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, India, Colombia, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden and the USA.
