Contemporary Hungarian writers are on the menu at VakVarjú restaurants
In honor of the 94th Holiday Book Week and to promote contemporary Hungarian literature, the chefs of the four restaurants of the VakVarjú restaurant family will feature the favorite dishes of our contemporary Hungarian writers between May 25 and June 11, the last day of the 94th Holiday Book Week – the restaurant family’s signature VakVarjús with a screw.
“For years, the location of the festive book week has been Vörösmarty tér, Vigadó tér and the Duna-korzó area. Since one of our restaurants, VígVarjú, is full of cultural life, literature, reading, the book week and, not least, our talented contemporary Hungarian writers in his honor, we decided to include the favorite dishes of the writers of the VakVarjú restaurant family, who are regular guests anyway, in our chef’s offer in the weeks before the program. On the other hand, the important places of literary life – especially in Budapest – have always been restaurants and coffee houses. In the past, for example, many of our great writers had their own table in the restaurants, so gastronomy and literature have always gone hand in hand in the capital. I believe that reading and literature, like gastronomy, are sexy, let’s get as many of us as possible!”
said Rudolf Semsei, the owner of the VakVarjú restaurant family.
Guests can also taste the favorite dishes of Miklós Vámos, Krisztián Grecsó, György Dragomán, Anna T. Szabó, Kata Tisza and Judit Berg.
