A food rescue program is launched against food waste
According to the latest WFP (World Food Programme) report, 283 million people worldwide are food insecure. In 53 countries, acute food insecurity is a seemingly insurmountable problem for society, which pervades their daily lives, so the question of what we as consumers can do to stop food waste arises more and more often. To help conscious shopping, Provident is launching a food-saving recipe competition in collaboration with master chef Róbert Bede.
Food waste is a growing problem in the world, which has many consequences, including food shortages, environmental stress and people’s livelihood difficulties due to ever-increasing prices. Irresponsible customer behavior further increases the already global food shortage, which is caused by extreme weather conditions (drought, forest fires) on the one hand, and transport chains that have changed due to various economic sanctions on the other hand, which means that even important, indispensable staple foods do not reach many places .
“As consumers, we can do a lot to stop this waste. We believe that with conscious planning and shopping, we can achieve spectacular results in everyday life. That’s why we started our conscious shopping program, with which we want to give concrete tools and useful tips, thus creating a chance for a better life. In connection with this, we also announced a tender where we are looking for food rescue recipes. Anyone can participate in the Etelmentő recipe competition, star chef and master chef Róbert Bede selects the final winners from the ideas received”
– said Márta Pálfalvi, communications director of Provident Zrt.
