Two-digit sales growth in both value and volume

In November-December 2013 retail units – calculated without butcher’s shops – had a nearly HUF 6-billion revenue from wiener sales. Value sales were up 12 percent from the level of September-October and volume sales surged by 14 percent, reaching 5,000 tons.

One kilogram of wiener cost HUF 1,212/kg in the examined period (volume weighted average price), 5 percent more than a year before. In the first six months of 2014 sales amounted to HUF 17 billion – this was a 12-percent improvement from January-June 2013; volume sales were at above 14,000 tons and this meant a 18-percent better performance. The volume weighted average price was HUF 1,112/kg. Self-service products realised 79 percent of sales in value and 76 percent in volume in January-June 2014. Stores in the 401-2,500m² channel were responsible for 49 percent of wiener value sales – in the first half of 2013 this share was only 41 percent.
