52 percent of Hungarian households feel that their financial situation has worsened in the last 2-3 years, while a year earlier this proportion was still 44 percent. However, Hungarians are becoming more and more aware of their finances: while in 2019 70 percent thought it was important to set aside money, in 2023 this proportion was already 82 percent, according to a survey of the population over 15 years of age with a bank relationship prepared for Erste Group by IMAS International from representative research conducted among
“According to the survey, there are more and more people who have savings, more than 85 percent of respondents said so. As a result of the crises of recent years, the coronavirus epidemic, and the uncertain situation caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war, the proportion of those who said that they had no savings decreased”
– said László Harmati, Erste’s deputy general manager responsible for the residential area.
