Poultry product retail sales are highly concentrated
Nielsen Retail Index registered a 7-percent increase in poultry product sales in November 2008-October 2009. The annual market surpassed HUF 20 billion. Volume sales were up 5 percent and exceeded 28,000 tons. Self-service sales represent 76 percent in value. The 401-2,500 m² retail channel represents 74 percent of turnover in value. Private labels carve out 27 percent of value sales and 42 percent in volume. Average prices were up by 6 percent at HUF 952/kg.
