Strong price increase in domestic and international sunflower seed markets

According to Stratégie Grains, sunflower seeds for immediate delivery were traded in Argentina at a price level of $20 lower, at $415/ton (FOB Buenos Aires) between June 13 and July 11. In Saint-Nazaire, France, the October-December export price (FOB) of the crop was available at $520/ton (+$31), and in Bordeaux at $523/ton (+$36). At the same time, the spot export price of sunflower seeds in Bulgaria increased by $31 to $548/ton (FOB). In the Netherlands, sunflower seeds were traded at $550/ton (-$15, CIF Amsterdam) in mid-July.

According to the European Commission, the price of sunflower seeds (FOB) in Bordeaux, France, was 634–653 dollars/ton, and in Ukraine it was 485 dollars/ton between July 2 and August 7. According to AKI PÁIR data, processors and traders bought high oleic sunflower seeds (HO) for 225.9 thousand forints/ton (+32 percent), and high oil content (LO) for 196.1 thousand forints/ton (+23 percent) in the last week of July. The average producer price of industrial sunflower seeds (including high oleic sunflower seeds) excluding VAT and transport costs was 210.2 thousand forints/ton (+28 percent).
