Results and tasks
In May the National Association of Tourism and Hospitality Employers (VIMOSZ) and the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) organised a conference, titled ‘Best practices and taking responsibility in public sector catering’. Róbert Zsigó, secretary of state responsible for food chain supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture told: today 1.5-2 million Hungarians are using public sector catering. NÉBIH president Dr Márton Oravecz talked about how they contribute to healthier food being served in school and workplace cafeterias, and to reducing food waste.
VIMOSZ president Pál Zoltán Gál introduced the European Union’s healthy school lunch initiative. Dr Riccardo Garosci, president of the School and Food Board of Italy’s Ministry of Education gave a presentation about how they are teaching Italian children to follow a healthier diet. Ferenc Sáfár, managing director of BioGastro Kft.stressed that Hungary has one of the strictest organic food certification systems in Europe. Anna Zoltai, the head of NÉBIH’s Horeca and catering supervision department shared their experiences from the Quality-driven Public Sector Catering Programme. //
