Consumer confidence in the United States weakened slightly in August
Consumer confidence weakened slightly in August in the United States.
The Conference Board nonprofit Economic Research Institute announced on Tuesday that the consumer confidence index has dropped from the 135.8 points of July to 135.1 points. Analysts expected a significantly worsening index of 129.5 points from August.
The current situation sub-index has risen from 170.9 points of July to 177.2 points, to a 19-year high. In contrast, the expectation sub-index for the next half year dropped from 112.4 points to 107.0 points in August. (MTI)
