Poultry prices have increased slightly
According to AKI slaughter statistics, 228.4 thousand tons (live weight) of poultry were slaughtered in Hungary in the first four months of 2025, 6.5 percent less than between January and April 2024. Within this, broiler chickens accounted for 184.1 thousand tons (+6.0 percent), and broiler turkeys accounted for 23.1 thousand tons (–0.6 percent).

According to European Commission data, the EU average price of whole chickens was 284 euros/100 kilograms in the first twenty-two weeks of 2025, which exceeded the previous year by almost 8 percent. According to AKI PÁIR data, the live weight producer price of slaughter chicken in Hungary increased by 5.9 percent to 437.2 forints/kilogram, and that of slaughter turkey by 4.3 percent to 621.4 forints/kilogram in the first twenty-two weeks of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. The processing sales price of chicken breast fillet was 1937.8 forints/kilogram (+12.8 percent), bone-in chicken breast was 1243.9 forints/kilogram (+13.0 percent), and the price of chicken breast (total) was 1869.7 forints/kilogram (+10.8 percent) in the observed period.
