UN: food waste has huge costs and is a major contributor to climate change
According to the United Nations, food waste is one of the largest contributors to global climate change, equivalent to 4.4 gigatons of carbon dioxide emissions per year and generating additional costs of 2 billion – origo wrote.
According to the UN, food waste is creating a new wave of businesses that can benefit the environment and society.
One such business is the Food Bank Singapore, which collects excess food and redistributes it to social homes and charity organizations. (origo)
