UN, EU, G20: the whole world is worried about food prices
The UN Food and Agriculture Organization drew attention; that the price of the basic foods reached record highs in December 2010, which may lead to fear of inflation, protectionism, and to decreasing demand in the developing countries.
According to the latest UN food price index of prices; in December 2010 prices exceeded the 2008 level, when food prices led to violent protest in Latin America, in Africa and in Asia – showing the immediate impact of the price increases on the world's poorest peoples. The UN index, which follows a variety of agricultural products such as cereals, maize, rice, canola, dairy products, etc., increased by 32 percent in the second half of 2010 – reports tozsdeforum.hu, after euractiv.hu.
