Brunch is now not just a meal, but a lifestyle: according to the latest top list of Dining Guide, the range of Hungarian breakfast places has never been so rich – and so expensive. A family of four can spend up to 40–50 thousand forints on a weekend brunch, while mid-range places can also expect to pay 16–24 thousand forints, writes Pénzcentrum.
Brunch as an urban ritual
Brunch, which is on the border between late breakfast and early lunch, has become one of the most popular trends in Hungarian gastronomy in recent years. According to the Dining Guide 2025 selection, the best Hungarian places are not only at the forefront in quality, but also in transparency: menus and prices are available online, so you can plan in advance how much a “slow Sunday” will cost.
Most of the top-listed restaurants offer brunch dishes for prices between 3,500–6,000 forints, while in the fine dining category the price of the entire breakfast package can be as high as 8,000–12,000 forints.
Budapest: the capital of premium brunch
Among the venues in the capital, Kollázs Brasserie & Bar carries the banner of luxury: the 21,000 forint breakfast buffet offers classic and international dishes, fresh pastries and homemade muesli, while on the à la carte menu, the Kollázs Eggs Benedict can cost up to 19,600 forints with caviar.
SOLID and Villa Bagatelle are a meeting point of elegance and creativity: in the former, the sous-vide egg with citrus yoghurt is 4,450 forints, the Croque Monsieur is 4,950 forints, while in the latter, the salmon egg burger is 4,990 forints, and the waffle is 2,690 forints.
The fixed breakfast packages of Gerlóczy Kávéház start at 6,000 forints, and a fine dining course – such as the Módos Reggeli – is 6,500 It costs in forints. The classic bistro breakfasts at Két Szerecsen range from 3,000 to 6,000 forints, making them a more affordable alternative for downtown guests.
VAJ Sas Pékség’s new-wave brunch model is built around specialty coffees and artisanal toasts: hot sandwiches are available for 3,500 to 3,900 forints, and coffees are available for 790 to 2,000 forints.
Countryside favorites: clean, artisanal, and cozy
Among the country brunch spots, Morzsa in Pécs stands out: homemade granola with yogurt is 2,100 forints, croissants are 1,200 forints, and cheese selection is 3 900 forints, and specialty coffee is 1,200 forints. The Balaton and Transdanubia locations – such as Salt Bakery – combine Scandinavian and French bakery traditions, in the price range of 1,300–2,600 forints.
