In February 2024, meat prices in the European Union generally rose compared to the previous year, with the exception of poultry meat, which became cheaper by 1.6 percent. The biggest increase in prices occurred in the case of pork, the price of which rose by 5.7 percent. This was followed by the price increase of lamb and goat meat (4.5 percent) and beef and veal (3 percent). The annual inflation rate of meat showed a varied picture in the last three years, but the highest rate was registered in February 2023, when the price was 17.3 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year.
