Excise tax and public health product fee will increase
The government increases the excise tax and public health products fee in case of some products, in order to obtain additional sources for health care. Matolcsy György National Economy Minister submitted the necessary bill on Tuesday.
The Excise Tax Act amendment is “designed to provide additional sources to provide higher-quality health care.” Therefore, the duty rate of alcohol, tobacco and LPG fuel would be raised.
According to the draft, LPG’s tax rate would be increased by 50 percent from the 1st of January 2013 and with another 50 percent from the 1st of May. Tax burden alcohol will increase by 15, on beer and champagne, and “intermediate alcohol products” will increase by 10 percent. (Világgazdaság Online, Haiman Éva)
