The euro area’s foreign trade surplus has increased
The euro area foreign trade surplus increased in February, according to preliminary data released by the European Union’s statistical office (Eurostat) on Monday.
In February, euro area product exports, excluding seasonal adjustments, increased by 1.6 percent year-on-year to 189.3 billion euros, while imports fell by 1.0 percent to 166.3 billion euros. The euro area trade balance thus showed a surplus of 23 billion euros, up from 18.5 billion euros a year before. A month earlier, in January, the surplus was 1.8 billion euros. (MTI)
