Spinach producer price increased
According to Eurostat data, 14.02 thousand tons of spinach were harvested from 560 hectares in Hungary in 2024, which exceeded the average for the years 2019–2023 by 32 percent.

According to KSH data, the foreign trade balance of fresh spinach was negative, its imports increased by 35 percent to 609 tons in 2024 compared to the previous year, the largest quantity coming from Spain (419 tons, +83 percent). Exports – primarily to Romania – increased by 19 percent to 183 tons at the same time. Frozen spinach imports decreased by 27 percent, amounting to 1.61 thousand tons in 2024. The largest suppliers were the Czech Republic (889 tons, -16 percent), Belgium (338.9 tons, -56 percent) and Austria (188.7 tons, +22 percent). Exports increased by 5 percent to 1,070 tonnes, with the main target markets being the United Kingdom (261.1 tonnes, -5 percent) and Greece (251.7 tonnes, -8 percent). The value of frozen spinach imports decreased by 8 percent to HUF 563.8 million, while export revenue increased by 15 percent to HUF 389.4 million in 2024 compared to the previous year. According to AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of spinach on the Budapest Wholesale Market was HUF 1,145/kilogram in the 1st–16th week of 2025, an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
