Tomato prices have increased
According to AKI PÁIR data, in the 46th week, domestic stuffed peppers with a shoulder diameter of 30–70 mm were offered at the most common price of 780 forints/kilogram (+1 percent), almost the same as in the 46th week of 2024. Domestic market pritamine peppers were sold for 975 forints per kilogram, and California peppers for 1,150 forints, which in both cases represented an 11 percent decrease. The average price of California peppers originating in Spain increased by 11 percent at the same time, to 1,550 forints/kilogram.

Among domestically grown cabbages, the average prices of head cabbage (195 forints/kilogram), red cabbage (230) and kale (300 forints/kilogram) all decreased in week 46 compared to the same week last year: by 11, 28 and 27 percent, respectively. Domestic prime kohlrabi was sold at the same price as a year earlier, 250 forints/piece, while cauliflower with a head diameter of more than 16 cm was sold for 345 and broccoli for 740 forints per kilogram. Of the latter two cabbages, Spanish imports were offered at prices of 500 and 1,300 forints/kilogram, respectively. The smaller, 30–45 mm size category of domestic garlic was offered at a most common price of 1,900 forints/kilogram, compared to the 45 mm+ size garlic price of 1,500 forints/kilogram 52 weeks earlier.
Costa Rican bananas were offered at an average price of 575, while Ecuadorian bananas were offered at an average price of 665 forints/kilogram, 15 percent higher than in the 46th week of the previous year
Regarding domestic apple varieties, Jonagored was offered at 480 forints and Golden at 495 forints per kilogram, which was 33 and 36 percent higher than the average price of the previous 52 weeks. The most common price of Bosc kobak/Alexander pears was 850 forints/kilogram, which increased by 18 percent compared to the same week in 2024. According to AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of domestic spherical tomatoes on the Budapest Wholesale Market was 5 percent higher (708 forints/kilogram), that of cluster tomatoes was 17 percent higher (1013 forints/kilogram), and that of cherry tomatoes was 10 percent higher (1828 forints/kilogram) in the 1st–46th week of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year.
