Rise in household chemical and cosmetics product sales
Retail sales of household chemicals and cosmetics valued at HUF 200 billion in January-
August 2013. Value sales were up 1 percent from the same period a year before, but volume sales dropped 4 percent. According to Nielsen client service director Bernadett Osztoics, stores’ revenue grew above the average from fabric softener (up 5 percent) and washing-up liquid (up 4 percent) sales if the 10 best-selling products are considered. Soap, kitchen towel, decorative cosmetics and sanitary pad sales rose in both value and volume. Sales were highly concentrated: 66 percent of value sales were realised by hypermarkets and drugstores. n
