Human leadership and fair wages – these are the main decision-making aspects of employees
Given the stable high inflation environment, jobs that offer other monetary benefits in addition to a competitive base salary are the most attractive. At the same time, the content of the work, the respect for privacy, and the growth of the role of the team and the leader all point to the fact that the working conditions that are primarily influenced by the immediate superior are also important to employees. More than 80,000 Hungarian applicants – young and experienced professionals – shared their opinions in PwC Hungary’s 2023 Labor Market Preference Survey about their workplace selection criteria and nominated the employers they considered the most attractive.
Hungarian companies continue to compete fiercely for skilled workers. The labor market effects of an aging society, decreasing unemployment, the increasing role of digital competences and the appearance of new large companies on the market cause significant challenges for the professionals responsible for recruitment. Many of them expected that after last year’s low point, the large downsizing wave could ease the pressure on the labor market, but this has not happened so far. The phenomenon of the candidate-driven market can be clearly traced in the preferences of the employees: while last year the stability of the workplace had a particularly important role (3rd place), this year it appears that the employees are less afraid of losing their jobs and focus more on factors such as increasing the basic salary, or finding work-life balance.
