On Tuesday, April 11, volunteers can apply until 6:00 p.m. for the eleventh TeSzedd! – Voluntarily for a clean Hungary! program series – Zsófia Koncz, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy (ME) drew attention in her announcement on Tuesday.

The aim of the community campaign, implemented with the support of the ministry, is to strengthen the environmentally conscious attitude among the population and consumers, to emphasize the importance of preventing and eliminating illegal waste disposal, and to promote volunteering. The state secretary reminded that the government, in accordance with the Climate and Nature Protection Action Plan, takes measures that contribute to the reduction of waste generation, the prevention of illegal waste dumping and the creation of value from waste. Let’s clean up the country! within the framework of the project, hundreds of thousands of tons of illegally abandoned waste have been cleared, mainly in public areas, in forests, next to rivers, and railway and road facilities. The location of illegal garbage dumps is also assisted by the Huladékradar application, which has already been downloaded by more than 27,000 users.

You can participate in the program series as a volunteer or coordinator

In her announcement, Zsófia Koncz also mentioned that this year’s TeSzedd! it starts on Earth Day, April 22, and – in parallel with the Sustainability Theme Week event series – lasts until April 28. Anything that can be safely picked up by hand with gloves can be collected in the campaign, so mainly household waste, which is taken care of by the ministry and the ÉMI Építésügyi Minősésvernőrző Innovation Nonprofit Kft. If there is waste that cannot be collected at the site of the action (for example, construction and demolition debris, medicines, electrical and electronic equipment, tires, furniture, green waste), the relevant municipality must be notified, and it can also be reported via the Waste Radar application.

The State Secretary recalled that TeSzedd!, which is the country’s largest voluntary movement, has been organized in Hungary since 2011

More and more people participate in the event every year, last year 850 tons of waste were collected at 900 points across the country by students and teachers of educational institutions, members of workplace and local communities, and friends. “Our goal is to surpass this this year,” Zsófia Koncz added. Volunteers who want to do something for the environment can register for the program on the website szelektalok.hu by 6:00 p.m. next week, according to the announcement of the EM.
