Tesco makes first wave of 45,000 temporary workers redundant
Tesco has begun laying off the first wave of the 45,000 temporary workers it had recruited at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. In one store 80 percent of the new staff were given a 7-day notice, while thousands of other newly created jobs also face redundancies. Tesco went on a hiring spree to cope with demand when supermarkets all over the UK began to experience a surge in sales due to lockdown fears.
