The fifth regional IT Fitness Test has started – it provides a comprehensive picture of the digital skills of students and teachers
The IVSZ is organizing the IT Fitness Test in Hungary for the fifth time, as part of the largest digital competence assessment in Central Europe. The program, announced on the opening day of the Digital Theme Week, will be expanded this year with an extra “IT Master Test” section, which maps the knowledge of the most prepared students, for example those preparing for a career in IT. The test aims to provide an accurate picture of the digital maturity of future employees in an age where AI use and critical thinking are already basic requirements.
On the opening day of the Digital Theme Week of the 2025/2026 academic year on March 23, the IVSZ – Association of Digital Enterprises launched the IT Fitness Test in Hungary for the fifth time. Students and teachers can complete the largest digital competence test in Central Europe until October 31, 2026. The online IT Fitness Test takes only about 45 minutes to complete, so it can easily be integrated into an IT class. An average laptop is sufficient to complete it, no special hardware or software is required.
Successful completers will also receive super prizes this year
Students, teachers and schools will be rewarded with valuable prizes. The main prizes include a mixing console designed for podcast recording and VR glasses.
Those who perform well can even solve a master test
As in previous years, the test coordinated by the IVSZ will be announced for two age groups this year. One set of tasks is for primary school students in grades 7-8. is a level assessment for students in grades 11 and 12, while the other set of tasks was compiled for high school and university students, but can also be completed by teachers or adults who want to assess their own digital skills.
This year’s innovation is that if a participant successfully completes the test for any age group, a new section called IT Master Test opens up for them. This contains tasks that are more complex than everyday digital skills. This test may be suitable for those preparing for a career in IT or related fields.

It is important to continuously get an idea of where the generation that will provide the employees of the digital economy in the coming years is in terms of digital skills”

Last year, a record number of students were assessed
Last year, a record number of more than 150 thousand students and teachers assessed their digital skills in the IT Fitness Test, which was conducted with the participation of the Visegrad Four and Ukraine. Students from 90 primary schools and 76 secondary schools and universities from Hungary participated in the survey.
In 2025, the most correct answers from domestic students were It was born in the Security and Computer Systems category, where most of them recognized phishing attempts, understood the importance of password security, and knew how to respond to an online security alert. The weakest result was in the Office Tools category, where deficiencies were mainly found in word processing and spreadsheets.
AI use and critical thinking should be more in focus
Based on the regional results of last year, the professional team behind the IT Fitness Test recommended, among other things, that teachers consider using AI tools in order to achieve better results, familiarize students with the limitations of AI technologies and the consequences of their use.
Another methodological suggestion was that students focus on the process, not just the results — that is, They also need to understand the purpose for which a given tool is used. In addition to the above, the test’s compilers emphasized the importance of developing algorithmic and critical thinking.
