President from Szolnok

The recent shareholders’ meeting of Co-op Hungary Zrt. held on 24. May brought major changes. Pál Bartus president and CEO retired and 51 year old Lajos Csepeli, CEO of Coop Szolnok Zrt. became the new president. After graduation, he had worked in higher education and joined the co-operative system in 1989. He has been CEO for ten years. His group of companies have developed dynamically and achieved revenues exceeding HUF 16 billion last year. He has also been active in the management of the regional distribution centre, Tisza-Coop Zrt., and of the retail chain, Co-op Hungary Zrt. He sees the recent change as the end of an era and the beginning of a new period, when they will need to decide which of their values should be retained and which ones need to be modified.
